As prepared for delivery March 3, 2009.

Officers and members of Plymouth Harbor Resident Associations, Ladies and Gentlemen; I am Pete Theisen, I am the Anti Growth candidate. We need transportation rather than buildings.

I see a number of carports on this property, with cars parked in them. Did you know that certain elements within our city government have promoted and still promote a plan to force you out of your cars? Why? Good question. I think it should be up to you if you drive or not.

Sarasota is built-out, not in terms of land/sky area, but in terms of traffic – you can't drive or walk anymore! Certain bureaucratic dictators want to force other people to use our failed bus system, but I say we need to do what we have to do to make public transportation succeed in attracting passengers, rather than resort to forced busing.

We need a pleasant and appealing system for moving people. We need electric passenger trains and small electric neighborhood shuttles to move people. We could have the neighborhood shuttle in the length of time it would take to have the vehicles delivered and the drivers and dispatchers hired. They are just long golf carts with lights and a horn.

An eight passenger golf-cart neighborhood shuttle network could feed the trains and buses making their use attractive so people will actually ride them. For corner store or in neighborhood trips the shuttle alone would be all anyone needed.

I suggest we send the bill to the friendly people who already hold a third to half of our money, the Federal Government.
